The bettors, who areophers, or gamblers as they are often known, have learned that sports betting or gambling is a grim and arduous task. Gambling is a trade-off: you either win or you lose. You either win or you lose. That’s how it goes. In basketball betting, however, there’s a way betting can work to your advantage. It’s a way that not many know about or are familiar with. That’s because basketball is one of the few sports left where you can bet both teams to win. In effect, you are playing the odds and beating the bookies at their own game.

There’s a name for this betting system and that’s called the Hi Betting System. Those are the same odds that bookies use to price a bet. You give the bookie a better chance to earn money by betting on the odds that you place for the outcome of a basketball game.

Bookies place their odds on the probability that a team will win or lose a game. They don’t care who you bet on, so long as you bet on the odds that they are offering, they will profit no matter which team wins. To profit, the bookies sell points on the teams, but they don’t care who you bet on. They are merely trying to balance their own books, so that they will earn the same amount of money regardless of the outcome of the game.

This is particularly true in sports betting. In Dewapoker basketball betting, the books offer odds, or implied odds, on both teams. If you bet on the San Antonio Spurs to beat the Detroit Pistons, rather than the Detroit Pistons to beat the San Antonio Spurs, you will win the bet. The books don’t care which team you bet on. They are concerned with the money that you place on the outcome of the game.

Bookies assign a point spread at the beginning of the season and that point spread has the effect of making the Basketball bet a profitable one if you can identify the profitable opportunities. You can also bet heavily during the season, when the point spread is low, and still come out with a profit.

By betting on the Detroit Pistons at +5.5, you would bet on a 50% probability that the Pistons would win the game, or say, bet on the San Antonio Spurs at -5.5, or bet on both the Spurs and Pistons, +5.5 and -5.5, you would bet on a 60% probability. By betting $100 on the Pistons, you would win $150. By betting $150 on the Spurs, you would win $233.

If the Pistons win, or say the Spurs lose, by 6 or less points, you will win $50 on the Pistons and lose $50 on the Spurs. Your total losses will be $110 (if you bet the spread) and you will win $50 on the Pistons, $50 on the Spurs and $100 on the oddsmaker’s favor. Your total winnings will be $140, which is return of $100. Thus, the system has made you $40 more.

If the Pistons lose by 7 points or more, you will lose the bet. Your total losses will be $80 (if you bet the spread) and you will lose $50 on the Pistons, $40 on the Spurs and $100 on the oddsmaker’s favor. Your total winnings will be $120, which is return of $80. Thus, the system has again made you $40 more.

By betting $300 on the Mavericks, you will win $300 and lose $100 on the Mavericks, provided the team wins or loses by less than 6 points. You will win $600 ($300 + $100 – $50 – $20 – $10 – $5) if the team wins by 7 points or more, and you will lose $300 ($100 + $50 – $20 – $10 – $5) if the team loses by less than 6 points. The Mavs can lose by as much as 21 points and still cover the spread.

At -109, the Dallas Mavericks are the favorite. If you bet the spread, you win $110. You will lose $100 on the Mavericks and win $110 on the oddsmaker’s favor.

At +110, the San Antonio Spurs are the favorite. If you bet the spread, you win $600. You will lose $600 on the Spurs and win $110 on the oddsmaker’s favor.

The line instinctively tries to take the easy way out, and by putting the Spurs ahead of the Pistons by a margin of overwhelmingly pointer. PH stands forPick’em.
